Band Leader and Designer
Cee Boulaqui is a Newham-based procession band leader, sustainable designer, and founder of Vibrance Mas, the first UK and Caribbean carnival procession band to make costumes sustainable and environmentally focused. Her work brings together culture, creativity, and care for the planet, showing that carnival can be both meaningful and inclusive.
A CIM qualified marketer, Cee has worked with Keep Britain Tidy, Mielle, and Spotify to promote environmental awareness and community pride. In 2024, Vibrance Mas placed in the top three out of 80 bands at Notting Hill Carnival, representing East London with innovation and purpose. Cee’s inspiration comes from nature, family, the caribbean, especially Dominica and Trinidad, and her home islands Mauritius, Seychelles and Chagos
Her costumes, made include reclaimed fishing nets, plastic bottles, and other repurposed materials, are transformed into elegant, high-quality designs that honour both people and planet.Her work has been featured on Sky News, paraded at Glastonbury Festival, interviewed by the Huffington Post, and the Guardian Culture front page. She has also collaborated with the London College of Fashion and Sadler’s Wells, and was awarded Best Costume at the first Black History Month Dandism event at the London Guildhall.
